The Cross Cultural Youth and Kids' Ministries Fellow will work closely with the Director of Third Culture Kid Care & Education and the departments that report to her (Youth, MK Station, Summer Safari, and Refuge 139). Third culture kids (TCKs) are children raised in a culture other than the culture of the country named on their passport for a significant part of their early development years. This fellow will have opportunities to work with TCKs and youth of all ages and learn how best to care and minister to them.
  • Work with the Youth department to minister to and care for students involved in the JAARS youth ministry
  • Work with the MK Station (on-campus childcare center for preschool-age children) to understand its purpose and how best to uniquely care for these children
  • Participate in the Summer Safari program (summer long care for elementary-age children) to help serve and design activities and lessons
  • Help Refuge 139 (a ministry to overseas missions branches to hold VBS-style programs for TCKs) share this missions opportunity to churches and individuals
  • A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, able to listen and hear a child’s concerns in order to ensure safety
  • A love for children and youth, with the maturity to maintain self-control, and avoid aggressive behavior in difficult situations
  • Flexible, energetic, and team-oriented individual who is willing to learn and grow in an entry-level position, and who is highly dependable in fulfilling obligations without supervision
  • Ready to work indoors and outdoors, stand/sit for extended periods of time, and lift a minimum of 20 pounds
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Education, Youth Ministry, Children and Family Ministries, and Intercultural Studies or related area
